Board of Directors Meeting Minutes

Monday, July 12, 2004

The meeting, held at the dBug Resource Center, was called to order at 7:45 p.m.

Present were Board members Dick Carter, Jim DaMico, Mike Grueter, Karen Lindner, and Allan Swensson as well as member Curtis Snow.

The May Board meeting minutes were approved unanimously.

The Treasurer's report shows solvency and cost of the recent xServe purchase has been covered by member donations and other fund raisers.

Existing spam tools in FirstClass have done a pretty good job of reducing spam on the ExChange.

Since we have not had time to work on the PostFix server, Curtis has setup Collaba <http://www.collaba.ca/en/> on the iMac server. It should be relatively easy to move our existing user-base to Collaba, but the UI is web-based as far as we can see. The web-based functionality seems less full-featured than Invision.

Hardware fundraising was handled by private donations and the existing hardware fund.

Software fundraising will be handled by member donations and/or other options once the software choice and cost is known. T-shirts were discussed.

Dick will try to modify the HTML of our existing web site after talking Curtis and Don.

The new projector platform is in place, aesthetic touched are still in progress.

There is a deadline of August 1st for the next newsletter. Picnic focussed, maybe a few articles (article deadline 7/21, print deadline 7/26, ship deadline 7/31).

We will pick the top 3 dBug "features" to go out in Bruce's re-up postcard.

We have not sold a discounted membership yet.

We lost about $100 on the swap meet. Advertising and room costs were more expensive this year.

Picnic - 5pm start grills unless we bring our own gas grills, in which case 5:45pm would be OK.

Tacoma Power donated 6 300 MHz G3 beige G3 towers, all keyboards, mice, power cords, monitor adapters, and 3 monitors. Two Macs are fully functioning with Jaguar installed.

We need to contact Brian about fixing the sticking RC door. AC is now available in the evening, but it requires someone to turn the "mark time" dial on the RC wall.

Mike will check on Usenet feed and backup mail server with NetOS. Curtis will try to add comp.sys.mac.*, seattle.*, and pacificnw.* through ELI.

The meeting was adjourned at 9:10pm.
