When: 9:05am-1pm Saturday, May 17, 2008Where: dBug Resource Center
What's happening on Saturdays down at the dBug Café? A better question might be what isn't! People bring in their Macs to get fixed up or souped up, the amazing iPhone has made a fair number of visits, digital photography buffs have been showing off some cool tricks in iPhoto and Photoshop, iPods are all over the place, and the questions and answers have been flowing more freely than the hot coffee!
The Resource Center has been full of activity, but there's usually no wait for our geniuses. Come on down, have a fresh donut, and join the crowd!

dBug April Main Meeting
dBug's resident database expert and FileMaker SIG Leader, Bruce Robertson gave us an in-depth look at Bento. Bento is a personal database application created by the developers of FileMaker, but with simplicity and design reminiscent of iTunes, iPhoto, and Pages.
Bruce showed us how Bento can be used as a single place to view and edit all of our data including Address Book contacts, iCal events, and anything else worth keeping track of. We got a look at the built-in templates created by designers and saw how they work. Bruce also showed how to customize the existing layouts and even extend our Address Book contacts with custom details. There is a free demo of Bento available for download and Bruce recommends taking a look at the online demos as well.
After the Bento presentation, Mike Grueter showed a brand-new program just released this month called Dialectic. Dialectic makes it easy to dial your phone (mobile, landline, and VoIP) using your Mac, and it interacts with Address Book to make that more useful too.
Our big raffle included two copies of Bento and two copies of Dialectic among other things. Check the next issue of MacNews for more details about this meeting.
